Douglas R. Adams, of Seabury Retirement Community in Bloomfield, CT, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2021 at the age of 91. He leaves behind two daughters he cherished, Mickey Stolarz of Surprise, AZ and Jill Adams of Avon, CT, his son-in-law, William Knight, and his brother, Alan Adams of Kansas City,

MO. Doug was predeceased by his wife, Lucille “Lucy” Adams, who was the absolute center of his life for the nearly 50 years they were married. Always a hard-working Midwesterner at heart, Doug was born and raised in Kansas by his beloved mother Jonnie Maebelle Yohe Adams and father Noel W. Adams. He studied at William Jewell College and received an undergraduate degree in agriculture. After deciding farming was to be his hobby not his profession, he became a farm insurance underwriter for The Hartford. While working full-time, he earned his MBA from the University of Missouri. It was a promotion to The Hartford's home office that transferred Doug and family to Connecticut in 1978. Restless after retiring from 35 years at The Hartford, Doug entered his second 25+-year career helping his daughter and son-in-law at the marketing agency they founded, Adams & Knight in Avon, CT. Doug was a kind, good man known for his ear-to-ear smile and his corny sense of humor. He was highly intelligent, but never let you know it. He loved

sports and was a tenacious basketball guard, natural golfer, try-hard fisherman, and passionate bowler. He also loved critters of all kinds, especially his many dogs

and granddogs. He was highly principled, with a resolute stick-to-itiveness that he always tried to instill in his girls. He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered. His life will be celebrated with a Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield, CT on Friday, July 30 at 10 am. Burial will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 200 Executive Blvd S #4b, Southington, CT 06489. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.
