Camp John Waters plans adult getaway
Kathleen Turner and Patricia Hearst are among the guests
Camp John Waters, the annual weekend filthfest at Club Getaway in Kent, is a little less filthy this year. All campers must show proof of vaccination when they arrive at the camp gates.
Those who can’t show vax proof must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours or must take a rapid antigen test, right then and there.
Waters, legendary for his loosey-goosey view on just about everything, is firm on this point: Behave or go home.
“If you arrive in a car with someone who is not vaccinated and does not pass one of these three requirements, you will be asked to head home with them and there will be
no refunds given to anyone,” it is written on the registration website.
The fourth annual Camp John Waters, which features the legendary underground filmmaker as the camp counselor, will be
Sept. 10 to 13 at the adult summer camp in the southern Berkshires. This year, three of his collaborators will be coming with him: Patricia Hearst, Kathleen Turner and Mink Stole.
Along with all the typical summer-camp and athletic activities, the weekend features a John Waters costume contest, two themed dance parties, a John Waters film marathon, Waters performing a one-man show, “Hairspray” karaoke, Bloody Mary bingo, campfire with s’mores, and a meet-and-greet with Waters, if health recommendations permit.
Admission for the weekend ranges from $514 to $576, with all accommodations including meals, wine, sports, activities and entertainment included.
