W. Patrick Mccue, 82, of Newington, passed away

peacefully on Monday, August 2, 2021 with his family by his side after a long battle with chronic pulmonary disease. Born in New Britain on August 12, 1938, he was the son of the late James and Katherine

(Doyle) Mccue. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Lou (Deconti) Mccue, by far the best cook in town, and the proud father of two sons and their families, Dr. James Mccue and his wife Angela, their daughter Molly and Angela's daughter, Jessica Madden and her family, all of Madisonvil­le, LA, and Patrick Mccue and his wife Terry and their son Aidan of Canton. He also leaves many dear relatives, friends, students and coworkers whose lives he touched. Pat was a 1956 graduate of New Britain High School and a member of the State Championsh­ip Hurricane Football Team that was invited to play Miami High School in the Orange Bowl. He was fortunate to

receive a football scholarshi­p to Division 1 Boston University where he was a 3 year starter. Upon graduation, he began a career in Education at New Britain High School, moved to South Catholic High School in Hartford and finished his career with the Hartford Public School System. He has served as a teacher, coach, administra­tor and counselor during a 48 year career. Pat was a big fan of the Yankees, the New Orleans Saints and playing golf, but most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Per his request to prevent the spread of Covid, Pat will be laid to rest privately in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. A Mass of Christian Burial and a Celebratio­n of Life will be held on a later date. Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington is serving his family.
