Slomkowski, Stanley J.
Stanley J. “Stas” Slomkowski, 88 of Middlefield, husband of the late Flora (Grillo) Slomkowski, died Monday August 2, 2021 at Hartford Hospital.
Stanley was born in Meriden, son of the late Stanley P. and Mary (Bystrek) Slomkowski. Stan was married to Flora, the love of his life, for 52
years. Prior to his retirement Stanley was the owner of Stan's Barber Shop in Northford.
An accomplished accordion player, he was the bandleader of “The Stan Scott Orchestra” for many decades. Stan was also an avid gardener, and grew much of the produce that he and his family enjoyed during summers. A die-hard sports fan, he followed his
beloved, Yankees, Giants and Knicks, as well as both Uconn Huskies men's and women's basketball teams. He was also an active member of St. Colman's Church (now Notre Dame Church) in Middlefield.
Stanley is survived by his children, Celeste Ricci-trahan and her husband Stephen Trahan of Hampton Falls, NH, Cheryl Slomkowski and her husband Richard Rende of Santa Monica, CA, Martin Slomkowski and his wife Cher of East Haddam, CT, and Paul Slomkowski and his wife Julie Laplante of Colfax, NC; a brother, Thomas Slomkowski of Chaplin; a sister, Theresa Manning of South Dartmouth, MA; and six grandchildren, Michael, Tony, Jordan, Iliana, Kyra, and Jack. He was predeceased by two brothers, Walter and Edward Slomkowski.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday August 9th at 10a.m. at Saint Colman Church, 145 Hubbard St., Middlefield, CT 06455. Friends may call Sunday from
4 to 6 pm at Biega Funeral Home 3 Silver Street Middletown. Burial will be held in St. Sebastian's Cemetery, Middlefield.
