Patricia Duplissis Hynes, (Patty), devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away in her home surrounded by family and loved ones on August 5, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edward Hynes.

Patty is predeceased by her mother, Ruth Duplissis, and a very important person in her life, Alfred Chapron. She spent many childhood years in Maine before settling

in Hartford, CT, where she attended school and was graduated from Buckley High School.

Patty and Ed were married on May 13, 1961, and lived a short time in Fayetteville, NC, before returning to Newington, CT, where they reared five children together. Lovingly referred to as “Mom”, “Emmy”, “Grammy” and “Trixie”, Patty was the heartbeat of her large family, teaching by example the values of love, service, giving and devotion. Tapioca pudding, French toast, BLTS, and home-baked cookies awaited her grandchildren after school every day. She was quick with a joke, enjoyed laughter and could light up a room with her smile. Caretaking became a hallmark of her life and her personality as at a young age she played a significant role in caring for younger siblings and cousins.

Cooking was a favorite pastime and her most familiar greeting was “can I make you something to eat?” Her ability to deeply listen, talk with anyone and put others before self, endeared her to all. She was a long-time volunteer for the Shriners in Newington, CT. She worked in the restaurant business throughout the area for more than 40 years. She was a guest reader each week at Mrs. Kilray's Kindergarten class at Ruth Chaffee Elementary School in Newington. She was a skilled bowler and enjoyed league play for many years. And she could always be found cheering for her children and grandchildren at sporting events. Patty was an avid animal lover, devoted to her Boxer (Dunkin Hynes), English Springers (Holly and Thumper), and Cocker Spaniels (Buford and Duchess). She loved the beach, Jeopardy, candy, coffee with sugar, a cold Pepsi, the music of Neil Diamond and playing cards with family. In recent years, Patty and Ed moved to Niantic, CT, joining her children by the shore.

Patty was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit (Annunciation Parish) in Newington, CT. Along with her husband, she leaves her children; Kathleen Hynes Hammock, Kelly Hynes (Brenda), Donna Hynes Traverso (Bob), Joanne Hynes Meucci (Tommy), Danny

Hynes (Christine), and grandchildren; Patrick Meucci, Thomas Meucci, Elena Hynes, Daniel Hynes, Grace Kelly Traverso, Jeremy Traverso, Melina Traverso and Kayla Wiley. She is also survived by her sister, Sandra Scott of Florida.

A special thanks to Christine and her care team members who were tremendous support. She loved them dearly; Shaina, Noreen, Dee, Katie, Anna and Essence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, (August 9, 2021) 10 AM in the Annunciation Parish at Holy Spirit Church, 183 Church St., Newington. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to the ASPCA at aspca.org or the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd. Newington, CT. 06111.
