Herbert E. Wedler, 89, of Bristol, husband of Gertrude (Wilde) Wedler died Wednesday (August 4, 2021) at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Herb was born November 28, 1931 in Hartford and was a son of the late Christian Emil and Anna (Kleiber) Wedler.

Herb was a parishione­r at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Bristol, where he sang in the choir and was active on many boards and committees. He was also a longtime member of the Bristol Chorale. He was very good at working with his hands and enjoyed painting bird figurines. He loved to read, especially about birds, nature, and National Geographic magazines. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a mechanical engineer. In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters: Carole Wedler of Bristol, Joanie Sutter of Goshen, and Heidi Beaulieu and her husband Timothy of Harwinton; a granddaugh­ter Amelia Beaulieu of Harwinton; and a cousin, Walter Wedler of Tennessee. Herb was predecease­d by his sister Lillian Ugarte.

Funeral services will be held Monday (August 9, 2021) at 10AM from the Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, followed by a service at 11AM at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1125 Stafford Ave., Bristol. Face masks are required. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, 115-199 James P Casey Rd., Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the Funk Funeral Home on Sunday (August 8, 2021) from 2 to 5PM. The family requests that all those who are attending please wear a face mask.
