Scotti, Rose I. (Aresco)

-

Rose Irene (Aresco) Scotti, 96, formerly of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on August 9, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Colchester. Rose was born and raised in Middletown on September 1, 1924 to the late Salvatore and Adelaide (Sapia) Aresco. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert F. Scotti in 2006 after 58 years of marriage, four sisters, Agnes, Angie, Cara, Helen and two brothers, Joseph and Sebastian.

At a young age, Rose’s family began calling her “Dolly”. Throughout her life, family, friends and co-workers always called her by her nickname.

Rose attended local schools and graduated from Middletown High School in 1942. She often told stories of living downtown with her family, walking to school, movies on Saturdays and buying a cake for dessert. She was employed by the City of Middletown as an Assistant Town and City Clerk. She retired in 1989. She loved her job and she met many diverse and interesting people. Rose was one of the original members of St. Pius X Church in Middletown. She belonged to the Italian American Club, the Elks and volunteered at Middlesex Hospital and the Godfrey Library.

Family was the most important thing in Rose’s life and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling with Bob, sometimes having breakfast or lunch in other states and going to the casinos as he drove a chartered bus. She also loved going to church and out to dinner with her nieces Annie and Jane on Saturday nights.

Rose enjoyed her stay at an assisted living facility making many new friends and memories. Her last two years, she spent living with her daughter Adelaide, who gave her love, care and support.

Dolly is survived by her two children, Robert L. Scotti and his wife, Robin of Rocky Hill and her daughter Adelaide Tiefenbrunn and her husband, David of Colchester. She is also survived by her two granddaughters, Kimberly Maziarz and her husband, Michael of Milford and Amanda Scotti of Rocky Hill. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Molly, Ava, Riley and Michael of Milford.

The family is very thankful for the amazing love and dedicated health aides and nurses from Middlesex Hospice Home Care who touched Rose’s life and made her smile every day during her last years.

Unfortunately, there will not be Calling Hours, but family and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church, 155 Washington Street, Middletown. Due to Covid restrictions, masks are required at the church. Burial will follow in St. Sebastian Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to D’angelo Funeral Home in Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rose’s memory to Middlesex Hospital Homecare, 770 Saybrook Road, Building B, Middletown, CT 06457.
