Kazakos, Efstathia
Efstathia Kazakos, 94, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of George A. Kazakos, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 14, 2021 at her home. She was born in Kalamata, Greece daughter of the late Panagiotis and Ekaterina (Kartsonas) Monemvasitis, and had immigrated to the U.S. in the 1960's. She worked at Arrow-hart & Hegeman Electric Company for many years until her retirement. She loved her church, St. George Greek Orthodox Church, of Hartford, where she was a long time member.
Besides her husband George, she is survived by her son Anthony G. Kazakos, and his wife Lucia of Wethersfield. She loved her 2 grandchildren; George A Kazakos and his wife Ashley of Springfield, MA, and Krystyna E. Kazakos of Wethersfield. Her great-grandson, Nicholas Kazakos. Her 2 brothers; Theodore "Ted" Monemvatis of Groton, and Nicholas Monemvatis of Sparta, Greece. Her sister-in law Maria Monemvatis of Groton. And a special niece Rita Scuris of Wethersfield.
Efstathia was predeceased by a brother, Basil "Bill" Monemvasitis, and by her 3 sisters and their husbands; Voula Zavoritis (Chris), Frieda Stevens (George), and Maria Scuris (Peter). She also leaves many nieces and nephews. The family thanks Lala Davenport for her daily care of Efstathia, and also to Hospice.
The funeral will be Tuesday, August 17, 2021, 10:00 am at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave. Hartford, CT 06114, with the Reverend Dr. George Zugravu officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Visiting hours will be at the church, 1 hour prior to the service, from 9:00 to 10:00 am.
