Gavron, Barbara Ann (Dowling)

Barbara Ann (Dowling) Gavron, 85, of Chicopee, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 21, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Holyoke, MA on August 11, 1936. Daughter of the late Mildred (Wegiel) Dowling and Leo J. Dowling. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Henry A Gavron, and her sister, Kathy E. Dowling. She is survived by her brother Leo H. Dowling, and his wife Tonya, of Ormond Beach, FL, and her sister Margaret (Peggy) Charette. She is also survived by her sons Steven Gavron of Newington, CT, and John Gavron of Chicopee, MA, her daughter Debra Asselin, and her son in law Todd Asselin of South Hadley, MA. She was proud Nana to the loves

of her life, her granddaughters Haley and Ava Asselin. Also proud Auntie Barbara to many nieces and nephews whom she loved, cared for and helped raise.

Barbara grew up and attended schools in Holyoke. Throughout her career, she worked at Technicarbon, New England Container Company, St. Joe Container Company. She retired from Comprehensive Car Appraisals to devote loving care to her granddaughter

Haley.

She was a communicant of St Anthony of Padua Church for many years. Her passions were her family and she loved hosting Sunday dinners for everyone. Her favorite foods to prepare were spaghetti and meatballs, pies and cakes. She had to always make sure there were homemade desserts and sweets in the house. She was a strong willed woman, a hero to her kids and had a wicked sense of humor.

The Funeral will be held on Friday August 27 at 9:00am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA followed by Mass

of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Chicopee, MA. Burial will take place in St. Jerome Cemetery.
