Royce, Thomas F.

Thomas Frederick Royce, 67, of Plainville, devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Friday August 20, 2021.

Born on October 18, 1953, he was one of four sons to the late Hubert and Viola (Whipple) Royce. Raised and educated in New Britain, Tom went on to work in the plumbing trade of which he took great pride, and retired from Stanley Works and Dabco where he leaves many friends and colleagues. Tom married the love of his life, Linda (Muszynski) in 1972, and settled in Plainville where they raised their three children and became proud grandparents. Tom was a former member and Master Mason with the Centennial Lodge #118 in New Britain,

and a member of the Elks Lodge #957 in New Britain. A hard-working man's man, he was a talented “tinkerer” who spent many days crafting wooden specialties for his family, working on cars and motorcycles, or inventing culinary creations. Tom was a car enthusiast who enjoyed attending local auto races and camping with his second family at Laurel Lock campground. Above all, he lived for his family and beamed with pride when he spoke about his children and grandchildren. Remembered for his selflessness, sense of humor and positivity, Tom spread joy to all who knew him, and leaves a legacy of love, laughter and many cherished memories.

In addition to his wife, Linda, he leaves his children, Karianneandrews, Jeremy Royce and his wife Karen, Heather Riera and her husband John Riera III, and his honorary son, Stephen Ross;and his grandchildren to whom he was the proudest “Pop”, Ryan and Nicholas Andrews, Katelyn and Tyler Royce and Reilly Riera.

He was predeceased by his brothers Gary and Larry, andleaves his brother, Patrick Royce, many nieces, nephews,extended family and dear friends, all who will miss having his finger in their ears in photos.

While flowers are welcome, the family requests that there are no roses present at the service due to a severe allergy.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville with committal to follow at West Cemetery.
