June Carol (Dumas) O'donnell (91) went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday August 19, 2021. She was surrounded by the continuous love and prayers of her family and the sisters at Saint Joseph's Residences where she resided for the past four years. Their love and kindness is deeply appreciated. She was born Marie June Aldea Dumas on May 22, 1930 in Worcester, MA. the daughter of the late Joseph O. Dumas and Aldea L. (Trudeau) Dumas. In 1949 she married the love of her life the late Philip Joseph O'donnell. Together they lovingly raised their five children in Enfield CT. June loved her Catholic faith with all of her heart and was a founding member of Holy Family parish in Enfield where she attended daily mass and was a member of the choir. Her love for our Blessed Mother was vocalized at mass with her beautiful rendition of the Ave Maria. She loved the little children and taught CCD for 52 years. June was fiercely pro-life and fought valiantly for the unborn babies. She was a founding member of Operation Rescue, and bravely put herself on the frontline peacefully blocking the entrances to many abortion clinics in an effort to save lives. She went to jail several times for doing as Saint Paul said in the gospels: "present your bodies as a living sacrifice. ". Her love for God was as real as the air she breathed, and she lived her faith and shared it with others every day of her life. June was a 3rd order Dominican. She loved singing, painting, the mountains, the ocean, her
gardens, her dogs, her friends and especially her husband, children and grandchildren. June is survived by her 5 children: Michael O'donnell and his wife Jill of Enfield, Brian O'donnell and his wife Ursula of Enfield, Susan Torres and her husband John of South Windsor, Kathleen Jones and her husband Steve of State College, PA. Marie Couture and her husband Michael of Enfield; her 15 cherished grandchildren, Erin Dickson (Jeremy), Ryan O'donnell (Karen), Shannon Vandermale (Brett), Alison Pliska (Billy), Sarah Schools (Wade), John Michael Torres, Matthew Torres (Rikki), Jennifer Dawson (Michael), Michael Jones (Marybeth), Daniel Jones (Candice), Christopher Jones (Angela) , Megan Beard (Andrew) , Ryan Couture, Kayla Borne (Derrek) , Shaeley Couture and 28 Great Grandchildren. Relatives and friends may join the family on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 4 – 7 pm at Leete - Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd, Enfield. A Funeral Procession will gather at 9:00 am on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Funeral Home for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield followed by interment at St. Patrick Cemetery, King Street, Enfield.
