Vincenzo Catricala, 99 of Wethersfie­ld, beloved husband for 57 years to the late Barbara (Ruggieri) Catricala, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Born in Girifalco, Italy on September 16, 1921, he was the son of the late Tommaso and Angela Rosa (Reillo) Catricala. Vincenzo served in the Italian Army during World War II and survived being a prisoner of war for three years. He immigrated to America in 1965 in pursuit of a better life for his family. He worked at Colt's Manufactur­ing for over 20 years and was an extremely hard worker,

dedicated to his garden, wine making and cooking. Vincenzo was a strong, caring and giving man whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. His family meant everything to him. He will be forever missed by his four children: Maria “Rosa” Signorello and husband Frank of Rocky Hill, Concetta “Connie” Incontro and husband Aldo of Wethersfie­ld, Thomas Catricala and wife Nancy of Portland, Rocco Catricala and wife Antonella of Wethersfie­ld; nine adored grandchild­ren, Cathy Weronik and husband Bob of Florida, Antonella Polites and husband Jim of Rocky Hill, Linda Prokipchak and husband John of Glastonbur­y, Vinny Catricala of California, Vincenzo Catricala of Virginia, Thomas Catricala and wife Julia of Southingto­n, Veronica Catricala of Wethersfie­ld, Joseph Incontro and fiancée Theresa of Cromwell, John Incontro of Wethersfie­ld; five adored great grandchild­ren, Stephanie Weronik of California, Rachel Weronik of Florida, Jake and Nicole Polites of Rocky Hill, Joseph Incontro, Jr. of Cromwell and many nephews and nieces. He was predecease­d by his brothers Rocco Catricala and Antonio Catricala and his sister Rosa Conaci. We want to give a special thank you to Kozeta, Melvina and Maggi for their kindness and care for our father. Our family is forever grateful for their love.

To the staff at Hartford Hospital Bliss 5: Thank you for the special care you gave our father. Also, a special thank you to our father's wonderful neighbors, Mario and Vicki Silva, Michael and Mary Taute.

The family will receive relatives and friends on FRIDAY (August 27th), from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the D'esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfie­ld followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnatio­n, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfie­ld. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Vincenzo's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
