Batson, Katharine V.
The Good Lord has welcomed home Katharine (Kathie) Batson, 86, long-time resident of San Diego CA, formerly of Hamden, North Haven, and Wethersfield CT. She joins her husband of 52 years, Raymond, in eternal life.
For those who knew Kathie, you already know her wonderful life's journey. But more importantly, you knew her spirit, her love, her kindness, her contributions to her work and to her community. She was a beloved wife, daughter, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother and a treasured friend to so many.
Her immediate family includes daughter Donna Batson (Oakland, CA); son David Batson, with his wife Karen (Coto de Caza, CA); Kathie's beloved grandchildren, Emily and Caroline (Orange, CA and Charleston, SC); brother Karl Veith and his wife Barbara (North Haven, CT); and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as extended family in Germany, the birthplace of her parents, Carl and Elsie Veith (d.1983, d.1984)
She left the gift of written words for her children and the extended family:
"Do not mourn for me. Always remember our wonderful
times together and how much I Iove each and every one of you. I have had a wonderful life with my family and you were always there for me when I needed you.” Remember too, “What we once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.” (Helen Keller)
The same can be said for Kathie, who was always there for anyone who needed her, offering unconditional love and kindness. And, she remains as part of all who know and love her. When God brings His children home, He graciously allows them to remain in our hearts forever. She will be dearly missed, but with thanks and all glory to God for the gift and blessing of her life. Arrangements made by Alhiser-comer Mortuary, Escondido, CA. Their website is available for posting
of any memories, www.alhiser-comer.com. The family requests that anyone wishing to make donations in
Kathie's memory consider either St. Jude's Children Hospital, Memphis, TN or any chapter of Easter Seals.
