Melo, Concetta

Concetta Melo, 90, died on Monday September 6, 2021. Born January 13, 1931 to Peter and Mary (Pandozzi) Perrone in Hartford, Connie graduated Hartford Public High School and St. Joseph College. She was a dedicated math teacher, first fulltime at Noah Webster School in Hartford, then a math substitute teacher in the

West Hartford middle and high schools.

She married Joseph Melo on June 23, 1956 and together they raised four children: Fr. Nicholas Melo of Christ the King Parish, Wethersfield; Michael (Catherine)

Melo of Framingham MA; Catherine (Kevin) Lanahan of Gettysburg PA; Christopher (Lisa) Melo of Atkinson NH. She had four grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

She is also survived by her brother Frank Perrone of East Hartford.

In addition to her parents, and husband of 53 years, Connie was predeceased by her sister Teresa Benedetto. For the past 21 years, Connie has spent countless hours volunteering at the West Hartford and Elmwood Senior Centers. She greatly appreciated the camaraderie. Even during the pandemic, she looked forward to joining via Zoom in all the wonderful senior center activities.

A longtime parishioner of St. Peter Claver Parish in West Hartford, she was deeply religious and looked forward to receiving weekly Communion, and watching daily Mass on television.

West Hartford, a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday September 11, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford, burial at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield, followed by a reception at Sacred Heart Church Hall, 56 Hartford Ave., Wethersfield.
