Braves: Outfielder Marcell Ozuna on Thursday entered into a negotiated resolution that could result in his domestic violence charges being dismissed. The 30-year-old was arrested in May after Sandy Springs, Georgia officers reported seeing him choke his wife, throw her against a wall and strike her with the cast on his broken fingers. Felony charges were later dropped against Ozuna, but he instead faced a pair of misdemeanors — family violence battery and simple assault. Ozuna appeared in court virtually Thursday morning and agreed to enter into the negotiated resolution. The conditions require the Braves star to be placed on six months of supervision, undergo a 24-week family violence intervention program and complete at least 200 hours of community service, Fulton County Deputy District Attorney Simone Hylton told the court. Ozuna is also required to take an anger management course and undergo a psychological evaluation. If he completes those requirements early, Ozuna’s supervision could be terminated after three months, Hylton said, adding that he must refrain from illegal drug use and isn’t allowed to have any violent contact with his wife, Genesis. Should he successfully complete his pretrial diversion, Ozuna’s criminal charges would be dismissed, the DA’S office said. If he fails to complete the conditions of the diversion agreement or gets arrested again, however, the case will move forward with prosecution. The alleged assault occurred days after Ozuna was placed on the injured list after suffering two broken fingers May 25. He hasn’t played for the Braves since. The Atlanta Journalconstitution has reported that MLB is also investigating the incident, though nothing has been announced regarding Ozuna’s status.

Yankees: Starter Jameson Taillon was added to the 10-day IL with a partial tear of a tendon in his right ankle, and Yankees manager Aaron Boone also said reliever Zack Britton has had season-ending Tommy John surgery. The reeling Yankees are feeling more optimistic about ace Gerrit Cole, who left a start Tuesday with left hamstring tightness. Cole played catch Thursday and plans to throw a bullpen Friday or Saturday with an eye toward a return to game action Monday or Tuesday. The Yankees are hopeful Taillon (8-6, 4.41 ERA) may only miss one start. The 33-year-old Britton (0-1, 5.89 ERA) was operated on by Dr. Neal Elattrache in Los Angeles on Wednesday. He had the UCL in his left elbow reconstructed and also had a bone chip removed. Boone was uncertain about a timetable for Britton’s return, although the typical Tommy John surgery recovery is 12 to 18 months.

Extra innings: Tyler O’neill hit a tiebreaking HR, relievers combined for five scoreless innings and the Cardinals salvaged a split of their four-game series against the visiting Dodgers with a 2-1 win. The Dodgers mustered just four hits against five different Cards pitchers . ... Sean Manaea struck out nine in seven dominant innings, and the host A’s beat the AL Central-leading White Sox 3-1. Manaea (9-9) allowed one run and five hits in his first win since July 28. The left-hander went 0-3 with an 8.00 ERA in his previous six starts.
