CCSU falls to Fordham in double OT

Darius Quisenberr­y scored the final four of his team-high 27 points from the free-throw line in the final seconds of the second overtime to preserve Fordham’s 89-83 victory over Central Connecticu­t on Sunday in New Britain.

Ian Krishnan’s jumper with 37 seconds left pulled the Blue Devils to 83-81, but Quisenberr­y drew a foul and hit both free throws to push the Fordham lead to 85-81. After Krishnan missed a 3, Antrell Charlton added two more free throws to make it 87-81. Quisenberr­y added two more free throws with 9 seconds left to seal the win. He hit 12 of 13 from the free-throw line in the game.

A layup by Central’s Jayden Brown with a second left in regulation tied the score at 62 to force overtime, and Krishnan’s 3-pointer at the buzzer tied it at 75 to force the second extra period.

Antonio Daye Jr. added 25 points and six rebounds for the Rams (5-3). Chuba Ohams had 19 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks, and Antrell Charlton finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Krishnan had 17 points to lead the Blue Devils (1-6). Zach Newkirk added 13 points, and Nigel Scantlebur­y scored 11.

Stony Brook 85, Yale 81: Frankie Policelli made four 3-pointers and scored a careerhigh 22 points as Stony Brook narrowly beat Ivy League favorite Yale in New Haven.

Anthony Roberts had 19 points and six rebounds for Stony Brook (2-3). Tykei Greene added 11 points and six rebounds, and Tyler Stephenson-moore and Juan Felix Rodriguez each scored 10.

Azar Swain led the Bulldogs (4-4) with 22 points, and Matthue Cotton had 17 points and seven rebounds. Jalen Gabbidon scored 14 points, E.J. Jarvis had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Eze Dike scored 10 for Yale.

Loyola (Md.) 75, Fairfield 70: Cam Spencer had 20 points and Kenneth Jones scored 16 as Loyola (3-4) narrowly defeated Fairfield (3-3) in Bridgeport. Golden Dike added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Greyhounds.

TJ Long had 21 points, hitting five 3-pointers, for the Stags. Supreme Cook scored 19 points on 8-for-8 shooting and had nine rebounds, while Taj Benning had seven rebounds and six assists.

Jake Wojcik, whose 14 points per game coming into the matchup led the Stags, was held to five points on 2-for-10 shooting.

Women

Quinnipiac 113, Hartford 64: Junior guard Sajada Bonner scored 18 points as the Bobcats (3-3) set a program Division I record for points in a game in a dominant victory over the Hawks (0-6) in Hamden. Junior Cur’tiera Haywood had 17 points as five players scored in double figures for Quinnipiac.

Hartford was led by graduate students Jada Lucas with 14 points and Abby Streeter with 13.

Quinnipiac opened the game with a 10-2 run, led 31-15 after one quarter and 58-25 at the half.
