- Please sign guestbook at courant.com/obituaries

Alan Dennis Beaulieu passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of Monday, December 13, 2021 after a brief illness. He was the fiancé of Louise G. French, of Newington, CT.

Born in Hartford, CT at St. Francis Hospital in 1950, he was the son of the late Alfred J. Beaulieu and Ellen (Donoghue) Beaulieu, an operating room technician at

that hospital.

He received his elementary education at St Joseph Cathedral school in Hartford, CT. In his early teens, he was one of the few male Candy Stripers at St Francis hospital, which peaked his interest in medicine. He went on to George J. Penney High School in East Hartford, CT where he excelled in athletics - on the swim team, the track team and especially as the co-captain of the basketball team, achieving the highest game point average. According to a classmate, he remembers Alan “driving to the top of the key setting up for his signature shot – a jumper that goes in so smoothly it gets nothing but net”. Alan received a basketball scholarship to attend Becker Junior College in MA, and earned an Associate's Degree

in a medically-related field.

After college, he spent 20 years as an Operating Room technician, first in the Navy and then after his Naval

discharge. Later, he was employed by Lockheed Martin as a radiographer for 32 years.

Alan was a lifelong sports fan, especially of baseball and hockey. He was a passionate Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins fan, and was a 2-seat season ticket

holder to the Jacksonville Icemen minor league hockey team, where he enjoyed sharing the sport with his oldest grandson Isaac.

He was interested in nearly all kinds of music, and could name songs, artists and albums easily. Alan

loved going to concerts with friends, including the Dierks Bentley concert in Brunswick, GA, the Blues Festival, and many concerts on the river.

Besides his beloved fiancée Louise, he leaves to mourn him his sons Bryce of Kingsland, GA and Collin of South Boston, VA; Bryce's partner Brittany and their three sons Isaac, Elijah and Liam; Alan's brother Bernard and wife Donna, his dear friends Ed and Kathy Burke, Ed and Sally Kees, and Andy Ward; his long-time neighbor Les Jamison; his dear cousin Elaine Kane and many other relatives and classmates. He will be very much missed by so many people who knew him as a smart, loving, honest and generous-hearted friend, with a wonderful sense of humor.

Many thanks to the Hospice of the Golden Isles for their assistance and care in the last week of his life. A mass celebrating his life will be held on January 8, 2022, at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Cathedral, on Farmington Ave in Hartford, CT, and another mass celebrating his life will be held the following week on January 15, 2022, at 11:00am at Our Lady Star of

the Sea, on Dillingham St E. in St Mary's, GA, with a luncheon to follow that mass at the Riverside Café in St Mary's.

According to his wishes, Alan was cremated, and his ashes will be presented to his fiancée for privately scattering in the ocean.
