Janet B. Mermegas, 80, of West Hartford, beloved wife of the late Argereos P. Mermegas, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 26 ,2021 surrounded by her family. She was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Louis and Helen (Hansen) Livingston, and had lived in West Hartford for many years. Janet who came to be known affectiona­tely as" Nanny", "Yia Yia" or “Grandma Janet” for her love of all the children, was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Hartford.

She was one of the original members at The Bridge's Family Resource Center at Charter Oak Academy where she brought the children she looked after in her neighborho­od and her grandsons as toddlers to the Early Learning Playgroup at the FRC. She was also part of the grandparen­ts' group, the Wisdom Circle, and the

People Empowering People (PEP), also at the FRC. She loved flowers and kept her lawn immaculate. She loved spending time at Dino's for food and company. During the Easter season, she spent numerous hours perfecting her Greek Easter red eggs for everyone to enjoy. She is survived by her 2 sons; A. Peter Mermegas, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of West Hartford, and James E. Mermegas also of West Hartford. In addition she leaves her 2 grandsons; Nikolos P. Mermegas and Loukas A. Mermegas, both of West Hartford. Her 2 sisters; Pamela J. Kummer of Colorado and Helen M. Mezzanotte of Southingto­n, and a brother Mark Livingston. She was

also predecease­d by a sister Carol Livingston.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021, 11:00 AM at George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave. Hartford, CT 06114. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, at St. George Greek Orthodox
