John “Jack” Szczepanik, 82, of Windsor transition­ed home to the Lord on December 27, 2021. Born September 22, 1939, son of the late Police Sgt. John J. Szczepanik and Katherine (Zytynska) Szczepanik late of West Hartford; he was the loving husband of Sandra Jane (Przybyszew­ski aka Probus) Szczepanik for 55 years. Loving father to Karen Hill Riley of PA and her husband the late Robert Riley and John “Greg” Szczepanik of

Windsor; grandfathe­r to “Frederick” John Hill, Brady Hill, Ryan Szczepanik, and Mackenzie Hill; brother to Paula Szczepanik of Windsor; uncle to John and Tim Preski, Diane Gros-louis; and

cousin to many throughout FL and CT. He graduated from Hall High School in 1952, UCONN, and Harford Institute of Accounting. He was an Auditor for 30 years with the United States Department of Agricultur­e. He also served for 25 years in the CT Air National Guard retiring as a Master Sargent. Jack loved traveling to visit his grandchild­ren and being part of their lives. He even dressed as Tigger and Sandra as Pooh for one of their birthday parties. He was an avid golfer and bowler. His passion was playing the Lowrey Organ especially old melodies and Polish music. He also played the accordion, keyboard, harmonica, banjo, concertina, and slide but perfecting in the organ. He laughed so much watching the faces of his children, then grandchild­ren when Santa appeared delivering presents as the children hid under the dining room table. Thank you to all who had the fortunate job of sipping milk (?) and eating

cookies. Jack was the “encycloped­ia” before google for friends and family. He faithfully attended St. Gabriel's Church at the Saturday, 4 PM Mass, then stopping for

dinner, then back to his home with friends to play cards and have desert. Jack was a very kind person and always thought of others before himself. He will be sorely missed. WE would like to thank ALL who helped keep Jack at home, after his TBI three years ago: Dr. Matthew Colliton and Joy, Dr. Phyllis Grable-esposito and Marlena, Dr. Rosati, and most grateful thanks to Mclean Hospice: Susan, Leah, Cassandra, Judy, and Linda: and most especially our friend and earthly angel Dolores Mcguinness. His family will receive friends Friday, January 7, 2022, from 5-8 PM at the Carmon Windsor

Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor and again Saturday January 8, from 10:30-11:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM at St Damien of Molokai Parish, St. Gabriel's Church, 379 Broad Street, Windsor. A reception will follow the Mass. Burial with military honors will be in the CT State Veterans Cemetery at the convenienc­e of the family.
