Gagnon, Shirley Ann (Eckert)

Shirley Ann (Eckert) Gagnon, 76, of Newington, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Perley L. Gagnon for 60 years. Daughter of the late Raymond and Hilda (Deutsch) Eckert, she was a lifelong Newington resident and parishioner of the Church of Christ, Congregational. Shirley owned and operated her family business, Eckert's Package Store on the Berlin Turnpike for many years along with assisting her husband with his business, Perley L. Gagnon Electric, Inc. Shirley was outgoing and adventurous. She enjoyed fishing, boating and Block Island. She spent time knitting, crocheting and gardening. Above all things, she loved her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Along with her husband Perley, she leaves her five children, Raymond and his wife Kathy, Laurie Bennett and her husband Michael, Dawn Gagnon, Sherie Chapman and her husband K.C., and Wayne and his wife Kris. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Meghan Kothari and her husband Soor, Danielle, Hayley, Emma, Riley, Timmy, Cooper, Wyatt and Zach, and one great granddaughter, Ella. She was predeceased by her infant son, Duane.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, January 7th, from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm, followed by a service at 7:30 pm, at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington.
