Peter George Burns, 57, of Sterling, CT, entered into eternal life unexpected­ly on January 5th, 2022. Beloved son, brother, father, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Peter, affectiona­tely known to his friends and family as “The General”, “The Mayor of Sterling”, “Pistol Pete” or Uncle Pete, was born on June

29th, 1964 in Hartford, CT. Peter's youthful years were spent in Enfield, CT where he attended elementary School at Harriet Beecher Stowe, Junior High School at John F Kennedy and was a 1982 graduate of Enfield High School.

Peter then served with the U.S. Army from 1985 till 1992, while in he earned the Army Service Ribbon, The Achievemen­t Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Mechanic Badge. He also received citations as a

Sharpshoot­er with an M-16 Rifle and an expert with Hand Grenades.

In Sterling he became an active member of the Forester's club which he spent lots of time.

He was primarily employed his entire life as a truck

driver and rigger. He was currently working for Bellavance & Roy of Sterling, CT.

Peter enjoyed spending time with his family and friends most of all. Doing just about anything from fishing, canoeing, riding his motorcycle, going to concerts, dancing, barn sales, building and fixing things and trying to learn the banjo. Everyone that knows Peter, knows him for his gift to gab and at times that gift could be very deep due to his extensive knowledge of so many things. Most people could only wish to have the memory of events, stories and history as Peter did.

Peter was a wonderful friend to so many.

Peter was predecease­d by his parents William Sr and Patricia Burns of Enfield, CT and his son Matthew Burns of Rhode Island. Peter is survived by his two brothers, Christophe­r A Burns of Stafford, William A Burns Jr. of Enfield and their significan­t others Arlene Thibodeau and Patricia Eastham, and his son Zachry Burns of PA. His nieces Deanna and Lindsy Burns, his aunt Mary Ann Dixon, his uncle/godfather John J Burns and wife Pamela, his aunt Deborah Richitelli and husband Glenn, his Aunt Carol Golas, his aunt & uncle Barbara and Eric Tocsko, his aunt Pamela Mrozinsky, as well as many cousins here and in Canada.

Calling hours will be on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm followed by a Prayer Service at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield. Interment will take place on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 12:00 pm in the Connecticu­t Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane Middletown, CT.
