Schwartz, Marcie B.

- Please sign guestbook at courant.com/obituaries

On Sunday, January 23rd Marcie B. Schwartz passed away peacefully in her sleep after a one and half year long courageous battle against lymphoma. Marcie was a long time resident of Farmington, CT, where she lived with her beloved husband, James Calciano, and where they raised their two children. She is survived by Ana Calciano Pratt and and her husband, William Pratt, of Farmington and Michael J. Calciano and his partner, Joshua Morgan, of New York City. She is also survived by her sister, Laurie Consumano, of New York City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marcie is predeceased by her mother and father, Joseph and Etta Schwartz, and her brother, Mitchell Schwartz, all of New York City.

Marcie grew up in the Lower East Side and attended SUNY Buffalo where she received a Bachelor of Arts and then went on to receive her MBA from Boston University. Marcie was a city girl but upon meeting a man from the suburbs she fell in love and together they called Farmington their home. After a successful career in the tech industry she retired from Hewlett

Packard after 25 years and then a second retirement from Intel after 10 years.

She had a passion for travel, the performing arts especially Broadway, and spending countless hours with her friends and family. She was deeply loyal and her ferocious love of life was contagious. She had a passion for fitness and health, especially walks with her

children and friends at the Hillstead Museum and on the Cliff walk in Newport, RI. Newport held a special place in her heart, as it was where Marcie and Jim first met, fell in love, got married and vacationed with their friends and family for over forty years.

An active member of the Farmington community and beyond, most recently Marcie served the town as an elected member of Farmington Town Planning and Zoning Commission. For over 30 years, she was an active and dedicated board member of Kehilat Chaverim, which allowed Marcie to integrate her Jewish identity and traditions into her family's life.

She had striking blue eyes and a dimpled smile that would light up a room and all that knew her will miss her profoundly. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Planned Parenthood and/or the Farmington Land Trust, two non-profits that Marcie was particularly passionate about.
