Robert (Bob) Elsner, 101, beloved husband of Marie (Gugliotti) passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 9, 1921, in Hartford, to the late Judge Solomon and Carolyn Elsner. Bob graduated from Roxbury (Cheshire)

Academy in 1939 and attended Penn State University. Bob was a medic in Company C 314th Medical Battalion from 10/10/42-12/29/45, and was stationed in Rhineland, Central Europe from 1/10/45-12/12/45. He received the Bronze Star and the rank of Sergeant TEC 4. Bob was the oldest and longest continuing member of the American Legion Post 96 for 77 years. Family friend Beatrice Auerbach provided his first job at Brown Thomson, Inc., and then he moved to G. Fox & Co. where he was a buyer in several department­s. Bob retired in 1978 after 37 years of service. Besides his wife of 68 years, Bob leaves his daughter Carolyn Elsner; sons Lawrence and his wife Becky and Peter and his wife Diane; his two grandchild­ren P.J. and Kate Elsner; his brother Lt. Colonel James E. Elsner (102) and his

wife Dorothy; and a niece and several nephews. He is preceded in death by two brothers Morton A. and Allan S. Elsner. Bob was fond of finding all the best deals at the supermarke­t. He stayed in touch with friends and family through Facebook and Email. He enjoyed driving Marie to her weekly hairdressi­ng appointmen­t. Bob read several papers every day and was active in following the stock market. Bob and his brother Jim would meet each morning for tea and had dinner once a week. There will be a graveside service with full military honors at Fairview Cemetery. A Celebratio­n of Bob's Life will be held at a future date in warmer weather, when Covid protocols allow. The Elsners would like to extend their appreciati­on for the wonderful care he
