Norman Fisher, Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, 93, of Vernon, a devoted father, and

cherished husband and soulmate of Corinne M. Fisher for more than 69 years, died peacefully at home on Saturday, June 11, 2022. He was born on March 28, 1929, the son of Samuel and Sarah (Libby) Fisher. Dr. Fisher grew

up in Hartford and continued his education at Hillyer College (now University of Hartford) and Temple University. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 19511953, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of Congregati­on Beth Sholom B’nai Israel in Manchester. Norman was a

member of many community service organizati­ons, including River East Home and Health Services, Visiting Nurse and Community Care Board of Directors, Vernon Education Foundation, Vernon Historical Society, Friends of Rockville Public Library, Friends of Valley Falls, and as a committee member of Boy Scouts of America, Troop 14. He volunteere­d with his wife at the Bushnell Memorial theater for many years. He was also a longtime member and Past Master of Fayette Lodge # 69, A.F. & A.M. Dr. Fisher is survived by his wife, Corinne, his two sons, Steven Fisher and his wife Stacy of Westlake Village, CA, and Eric Fisher and his wife Irena of Oberrieden Switzerlan­d. Norman’s love of children is reflected in his pride in his grandchild­ren: Michael Fisher and his wife Hannah and their son (great grandson) Samuel; Eric & Irena’s daughter Isabelle, and Aaron Fisher and his wife Teri. He is also survived by

his nephews, Scott (Bev) and Barry (Sue) and their families, and by his sister-in-law, Nancy Messinger, and her family. Norman was predecease­d by his brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Sylvia Fisher, his two brothersin-law, Arnold Messinger, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Seymour and Elaine Lustig. Norman Fisher was grounded in his faith, his family, his country, and his community. He will always be lovingly remembered. The family extends its gratitude for all the caring assistance provided during Norman’s illness, especially by Dr. Richard Orris and Dr. Michael Sharon. Exceptiona­l care was also provided by Vernon Visiting Nurse Hospice (Donna, Kathleen, and Colleen), Vernon Manor Rehab, and Personal Care Assistant Winsome Mitchell. Donations to a charity of your choice in Norman’s name would be most appreciate­d. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the Ladd-turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottvil­le Road (Route 83), Vernon.
