Noreen Ann Thomas (Moro), 72, of Bristol, CT, passed away on June 13 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain after a four week battle for her life. Noreen can be best remembered as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, caretaker, friend and all around amazing person. Noreen was born on April 5, 1950 to Lewis Joseph Moro, Sr. and Ruth Shirley Moro (Caron) of Ashland, ME. Noreen graduated from Platt High School, Meriden, CT, in 1969. She later went on to study Nursing at Briarwood College. She committed the next five decades to the care of others, 30 of those years working for the Bristol Board of Education until her retirement in 2018. In 1971, Noreen met George Northrop Thomas, and they wed in 1973, going on to have two children, Bryan Kenneth Thomas (Sara) of East Greenwich, RI, and Allyn George Thomas of Saint Petersburg, FL.

Noreen also had a very special relationship with George’s daughter, Lori Ann Thomashernandez (William) of Port Saint Lucie, FL, who she loved as her own since the age of three. Noreen dedicated her life to being a loving mother and grandmother to many, far more than just her children. No matter if it was a friend of her children, even their children, a student at school, a distant family member, a great-niece/nephew or even the people hired to mow her lawn, she would invite them into her house for a chat. Not always did you want to hear what she had to tell you, yet you walked away a better person

for it. Noreen always had a fresh batch of banana bread cooling on the kitchen table, and if not, she had one in the freezer to hand out. Having grown up in a big family, she didn’t know how to cook for just a few, so you would always

go home with a ton of leftovers. Noreen committed decades to The Boy Scouts of America, earning endless distinguished awards as a dedicated volunteer. Noreen was predeceased by her husband, George Northrop Thomas, her parents, Ruth Shirley & Lewis Joseph Moro, her in-laws, Thomas Paul, Sr. and Eleanor Dorothy Thomas, siblings, Larry Moro and Kenneth Moro, and many other family and loved ones. She is survived by her siblings, Lawrence Moro (Elisabeth), Lise Moro all of Daytona, FL, Arnold Moro of New Britain, CT, Maurice Moro (Debra) and Dora Moro (Albert) of Meriden, CT, Katherine Dumont (Chester) of Portland, CT, Lewis Moro of Dover-foxcroft, ME, her in-laws Thomas Paul Thomas II (Lydia) of Jacksonville, FL, and Suzanne Thomas of Bristol, CT. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, William Matthew Hernandez (Stephanie) of Loxahatchee, FL, Eric Anthony Hernandez (Alexis) of Bristol, CT, Nathan George Thomas (Kirshjah) of San Diego, CA and Laurel Kelly Thomas of East Greenwich, RI, and four great-grandchildren William & Michael Hernandez of Loxahatchee, FL, and Rosealynn and Wren Hernandez of Bristol, CT. She also leaves behind an endless count of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends. She loved them all so much.
