Ernest “Ernie” Franklin Merbler 89 of Queensbury, New York, formerly of Hebron, Connecticu­t, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Ernie was born March 4, 1933 in Passaic, New Jersey to John Adam and Anna (Nick) Merbler.

He proudly served his country in the US Army, during the Korean War from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955.

He worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for over 30 years until his retirement.

Ernie always enjoyed spending time with family, and throughout the years, enjoyed camping and summer vacations at the beach. His hobbies, included, gardening, golfing, bowling, reading, watching a good western, as well as singing and dancing the polka.

Ernie leaves his wife, Barbara Smith Merbler, whom he has shared his life and love with for over 65 years, as well as his two daughters and sons-in-law Melissa and Louis Iaconetti of Johnsburg, New York and Michelle and Robert Bazzano of Talbott, Tennessee.

He was predecease­d by his 4 siblings; Leo Merbler, Rudy Merbler, Mary Dabal and Albert Merbler. He was also predecease­d by his infant daughter, Mary Beth Merbler.

Ernie was a wonderful role model, friend, father and husband and was loved by anyone who had the opportunit­y to cross paths with him. He will be greatly missed. Gone, but never forgotten.

A Ceremony will be held at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. Schuylervi­lle, NY with Military Honors, on Friday, October 14, 2022 at

1:00 pm. Friends and family welcome.
