It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Anthony “Tony” Reilly on September 15, 2022 at the age of 85. Tony was born in the tiny six house village of Glenlara, Belmullet, Co. Mayo Ireland Dec 7, 1936. He left home at 18 moving to England briefly and then courageous­ly moving to the states at the young age of 20. He married his wife, Susan, and raised three daughters (Karrie- Linn, Dawn, and Sheila) in Plainville CT. He had a full and adventurou­s life. He served in the U.S. Army for four years, earned a degree in Criminal Justice to then join the Hartford Police Department, working there for over 20 years. He then was head of security for Shawmut/fleet bank in Hartford and was a member of Unity Lodge AF&AM (formerly Walnut Hill Lodge AF&AM) in New Britain.

Tony and Sue pulled up stakes in CT in 2001 to move to their dream retirement location of Myrtle

Beach, SC where they lived happily in the warm weather for over 20 years. Tony loved to travel back home to Ireland to visit the farm and his brothers (Tom and John Paul) and mother Mary and cousins, visiting his sister Mary in England, and even his brother Michael in Australia. Tony was soft spoken in words, bold in wisdom and always good for a hilarious story from his days of “being on the beat” in Harford, or the good old days back home in Ireland. He gave great advice to anyone who asked and is remembered for his intelligen­ce, grace and soft wisdom. He took great joy

in spending time with his six grandchild­ren, Brenden, Brian, Emma, Grace, Reilly and Addison. He raised his daughters to be as he was with integrity, hardworkin­g, devoted, and like him servicing their communitie­s.

He leaves behind his wife Susan (Linn) Reilly, originally from New Britain CT, Also his three daughters Dawn (Reilly) Eveland of Macomb Michigan, Sheila Reilly, of East Hampton, CT, and their spouses Randy and Adam and Karrie-linn Velms of Clermont, Fl.six grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews. He will surely be missed and fondly remembered by so many. Burial with military honors will be at The CT State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown, CT. to be planned at a later date. Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain is assisting with arrangemen­ts.
