Rockville locks up top-4 berth in Class M

A trip to the high school football postseason was already secured for Rockville, but a 40-20 road win over Pequot Uncas rival Ellington on Thanksgivi­ng morning was enough to unofficial­ly give the Rams a top-four seed in the upcoming Class M playoffs.

Sophomore quarterbac­k Brady Ramsdell threw for three touchdowns and 204 yards on 12-of-21 passing. Lexington Hunter caught two of those (Joey Christian had the third), totaling five catches for 101 yards, and Malachi Mapp led Rockville (8-2) with 134 yards and two TDS on 24 carries.

Rockville’s defense kept the Knights mostly quiet as Palmer led the way with 10 tackles. John Kasamba had nine tackles and two sacks, and JT Dwire had eight and two. Both also blocked a punt.

Dante Mangiafico had a hand in three touchdowns for Ellington (7-3). He tossed two to Emil Johnson and ran for a third.

Sheehan 37, Lyman Hall 28: The Titans rallied from a 28-17 fourth-quarter deficit behind the legs of freshman running back Brady Rossacci to knock off crosstown rival Lyman Hall at home. Rossacci rushed for 282 yards and four touchdowns on 32 carries, but three of his scores came in the final quarter, including a long of 54 yards that put the game away.

Paul Gorry tossed a 38-yard TD pass to John Gogliettin­o for the lone score for Sheehan (5-5) in the first half. Trojans quarterbac­k Tyler Casey and Cameron Pragano linked up for three touchdowns, and Gavin Janowski had a 78-yard kickoff return the gave Lyman Hall (4-6) a 14-10 at the half.

LATE WEDNESDAY East Catholic 45, Northwest Catholic 7:

Ethan Rainha scored three touchdowns as the Eagles rolled past the rival Lions on Wednesday evening at home. Rainha had a rushing TD in the first quarter, a receiving TD in the second and returned a punt for a TD in the third. Joey Montalvo added a rushing TD and a 94-yard pick-six for East Catholic (7-3), one of two on the day (Drew Delaura had the other).

Boomer Staunton had a rushing TD for the lone score for Northwest Catholic (2-8).

Stafford/east Windsor/somers 20, Windsor Locks/suffield/east Granby 14: Zack Donovan tossed three touchdowns and the Bulldogs held off the Raiders for the Pequot Uncas road win. Donovan was 12-for-22 for 143 yards and the three TDS (two to Gavin Mills) and also rushed 22 times for 127 yards. Dylan Mclaughlin had a TD catch, as well as 10 tackles and a pick on defense. Ibrahim Gocomez added two intercepti­ons for Stafford (4-6).

Aiden Walker had a passing and rushing TD for Windsor Locks (3-7).

LATE TUESDAY

Avon 26, Lewis Mills 25: Cole Milardo’s second touchdown of the night and Connor Lavore’s successful two-point conversion lifted Avon past Lewis Mills in Burlington. Milardo also scored a 43-yard rushing TD to open the game. Mason Eckerlin added a rushing TD for the Falcons (5-5).

Jack Stanislaw rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns and Larry Weaver tossed two TDS for the Spartans (1-9).

Valley Regional/lyme-old Lyme 28, Haddam-killingwor­th 8: The Warriors rolled past the Cougars for a Pequot Sassacus road win in Higganum. Diangelo Jeanpierre led the way for Valley (9-1).

The senior passed for two TDS, both to Grady Lacourcier­e, and also had a 60-yard pick-six. Joseph Montazella recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for the other Warriors score.

Tate Callender caught a 15-yard TD pass from Alex Phipps for the Cougars (6-4).
