-

Raymond G. Gaylord, 81, of Windsor, passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Raymond was born in Springfield, MA, son of the late Raymond and Mary (Griffin) Gaylord, and was an Allstate Basketball player at Windsor High School. After high school, he served his country in the United States Army, received a Basketball scholarship to the University of Hartford, and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Raymond was licensed in Massachusetts as a Certified Public Accountant and took a position as an Accountant with United Technologies, retiring as an Assistant Controller after over 30 years of dedicated service. He then worked as an Account Executive for Nerac Associates in Tolland for 17 years. Raymond was passionate about education and continuing to learn his trade through continuing education classes and, at the age of 70, he received his MBA from American International College. Raymond was a longtime member of the Windsor Romeo Club and a faithful communicant of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, St. Gabriel Church in Windsor.

Raymond was a loving son, brother, uncle, and dear friend. He will fondly be remembered as a kindhearted and generous man who was father figure to his nephew and nieces and loved his family more than anything. Raymond was the universal constant in his family, and everyone knew they could count on him for anything. He was very much a gentleman and gave everyone the respect they deserved. Raymond was extremely pleasant, hospitable, and easy to talk to and made friends wherever he went. He was a wonderful son who took care of his parents as they aged and then took care of the rest of his family. They, in turn, loved him unconditionally and took care of him. He leaves a legacy of beautiful memories that will live in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.

Raymond loved his home away from home in Vermont. It was his sanctuary, and he took joy in sharing it with his friends and family. He enjoyed hiking all over Vermont when the kids were younger, boating on Lake Willoughby, and taking long drives around the state. For many years, he enjoyed running in the Manchester Road Race and always loved watching the Men's and Women's UCONN Basketball Teams.

Raymond leaves to celebrate his life, his brother, Ronald T. Gaylord and his wife Regina, formerly of Windsor; his nieces and nephew, Renee C. Wild and her husband Clayton of Southwick, MA, Heather May Gaylord of Windsor, Charles Gaylord and his wife Tracey of Granville, MA, Heidi Holmes of Enfield, and Rachel Rehn and her husband Erik of Rio Vista, CA; his great nieces, Alex Holbrook, Ashley Wild, and Aubrie Holmes; as well as other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert F. Gaylord.
