Remington, Linsley (Lin)

-

Linsley (Lin) Remington, a lifelong resident of Suffield, CT, peacefully passed away on February 19, 2023, just three days after her 80th birthday, surrounded by her husband and children. She was born at Hartford Hospital on February 16, 1943, where she would work her 40-year career. Lin and Bill were best friends throughout their 57-year marriage. They balanced one another out perfectly.

Lin's nursing career was a great sense of pride for her. During her 40-year career, she spent the first 30 years working private duty and the last ten years in the rehabilitation unit. A highlight of her career was taking care of Katharine Hepburn. Ms. Hepburn even wrote of Lin in her autobiography, Me, in the chapter titled “Happy New Year.” One story she enjoyed telling was when Ms. Hepburn convinced Lin to scale the wall at her friend's home in West Hartford when they found the gate was locked.

Lin loved playing tennis with her friends several times a week and watching Jeopardy! nightly. Lin enjoyed corresponding with others, especially through handwritten letters to friends and newsletters for the other White Plains Hospital School of Nursing graduates, where she received her 3-year degree as a registered nurse.

Lin is predeceased by her baby daughter, Sharon Lynn Remington; parents, Winfield H. Gregg and Patricia Hart Gregg; brother, Austin Spencer Gregg, Sr.; and her aunt and uncle, Mildred Gregg Zucco and James Zucco. In addition, Lin leaves behind her husband, William G. Remington; children Sharon Remington Chagnot and husband Eric Chagnot of Suffield, James Remington and wife Jennifer Remington of South Riding, VA, and Amy Seiler and husband Howard Seiler or Norwalk, CT; granddaughters, Julia Chagnot and Ailsinn Seiler; and sister-in-law Nancy Gregg.

Lin's family will receive friends on Saturday, February 25, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral home, 443 East Street North (Rt. 159), Suffield, CT. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 26, at 3:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, 100 North Main Street, Suffield, CT. The burial will be held on Monday, February 27 at 9:00 a.m. at the Enfield Street Cemetery, Enfield, CT. Memorial donations can be made in Lin's memory to the Suffield Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 642, Suffield, CT 06078 or Suffield Community Aid, 450 South St., Suffield, CT 06078 or Second Baptist Church, 100 N. Main St., Suffield, CT 06078.
