Walter J. Gorski (79) beloved husband, father and grandfathe­r passed away peacefully with his loving wife, Joan by his side on December 7, 2022. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Joan Pernal Gorski and his grandson, Walter J. Gorski, IV and Walt's mother, Denise Gorski. He also leaves his cousin, Joseph Kancewicz and wife Linda and children of New Britain, CT. He was predecease­d by his only child, Walter J. Gorski III (March 10, 2021) and by his parents, Jayne Gorski and Walter Gorski. Walter graduated from New Britain High and then entered Uconn, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. He continued at Uconn Law School and received his Law Degree in 1967. While at Law School Walter wrote on the prestigiou­s Law Review. After graduation he entered private practice at the New Britain law firm of Januszewsk­i, Mcquillian and Denigris. Several years later he practiced law in Boston at the law firm of Mintz, Levin and Popeo. Walter's interest in law extended into Corporate Insurance Law, as he became General Counsel at CT. Mutual, MA Mutual, and Boston Mutual for 20 years. Walter loved legal work and also loved helping others to advance in their careers. He was respected and admired by all who knew him. He married Joan while he attended Law School. They were blessed with a son, Walter III, who was the love of their lives and were later blessed with a grandson, Walter IV, who was also the love of their lives. Walter enjoyed life fully. He valued time with family and friends. He loved coaching his son's baseball farm team and little league team. Living in Boston he would forever cheer for the Red Sox. He was an avid fisherman, both fly fishing and freshwater fishing. He and son Walt fished areas of Wyoming and Cape Cod many years and also enjoyed their horseback riding adventures in Wyoming. Walter will be remembered as energetic, generous, thoughtful and loving. He was known for good humor and having a very quick wit. Walter was an only child and wrote that he loved having Joan's 7 cousins accept him as being one of their cousins. He loved entertaini­ng and belonging to a wonderful large family and attending all their holidays and functions together. As he remarked “life is good” with lots of love and being loved. Joan and Walter indeed had a special life together…seeming always together as they traveled through Europe and making new friends as they moved many times having homes in Kensington, CT, West Hartford, CT, Orleans, Cape Cod, Boston, MA, Bonita Springs, FL and Fairfax, VA. Walter will be dearly missed by all family and friends. May all the angels watch over him. God Bless Walter. Funeral Services will be held March 11, 2023 at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Berlin, CT from 9:15 am to 10:15 am followed by a Christian Burial Mass at Saint Josephine Bakhita Parish at Saint James Church, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill, CT. at 11:00 am.

Commemorat­ive prayers will be said by Father George Couturier after the mass. Burial services will be private at a later date.

Memorial contributi­ons may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
