Lois Jean (Grennan) Glazier, 90, of Windsor Locks, CT passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on February 26, 2023. She was born in Rockville, CT, daughter of the late Augustine and Irene Grennan. At Stafford High School, Jean played the flute in the high school band, held the position of class Secretary, was the class Salutatori­an, and was voted the Most Popular Girl. After graduating, Jean worked at a bank, in Stafford Springs, where she forged life-long friendship­s with what became known as the “Bank Gang". She married Douglas Glazier in August 1954 after Doug completed his basic training in the US Army, then moved to New Jersey to be with Doug while he was stationed at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. After returning to CT, she began working from home selling Pequot Soda. When her children were older, she worked at C.H. Dexter & Sons and then went on to become the Executive Director of the Windsor Locks Housing Authority, a position she held for 26 years. During this time, she also served as the Clerk for the W.L. Board of Finance. Upon retirement, she continued to work on various town committees such as the Board of Selectman, Board of Assessment Appeals and was secretary for the Republican Town Committee. She was a volunteer for the Informatio­n Booth at Bradley Internatio­nal Airport for many years. She was a devoted parishione­r of the W.L. Congregati­onal Church for over 60 years and sang in the church choir for more than 40 years. Although she was known as Jean to all, her given name was Lois and she was a proud member of the “Lois Club"; a national organizati­on. She would join the members regularly for luncheons, and she and Doug enjoyed the annual convention­s held around the country. In her spare time she loved to read, was a lifelong gardener, and loved doing crossword puzzles, creating beautiful counted cross stitch pieces, and watching UCONN Women's Basketball. She is survived by her loving husband Douglas, married for 68 years; her son Douglas, Jr. (Chuck) and wife Jane of Hopkinton, MA; son Barry and wife Lisa of Albany, VT; daughter Sue and husband Jim Osowiecki of West Suffield, CT; son Glenn of Windsor Locks, CT; grandchild­ren Jen, Tim, Brian, Beth, Steven, Emily and Jack; great grandchild­ren Jameson, Kiley, Kayla, Luke and Colin; sister in-law Margaret Nishanian; a nephew and several nieces. She is predecease­d by her late brother Gus Grennan, Jr. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at the Windsor Locks Congregati­onal Church, 8 Main St., Windsor Locks. Please meet directly at the church.
