-

Mary Patricia (Cosgrove) Roberge, 87, of East Hartford, loving wife of the late Donald A. Roberge for over 61 years, peacefully entered into eternal life at home with her caring family by her side on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Born in Hartford on July 14, 1935, a daughter of the late Thomas J. Sr. and Margaret (Mcmahon) Cosgrove, she had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 60 years. Patricia was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School in Hartford, class of 1953. Prior to her retirement she was employed for eleven years as a paraprofessional for the East Hartford Board of Education and subsequently worked at Harper Buffing Machine Company in East Hartford.

A devout catholic, Patricia was a longtime faithful communicant of Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in East Hartford and relished being part of the close knit spiritual community where she was a leader of the church Prayer Group and an active member of the church Retirees' Club. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the East Hartford Senior Center. Patricia enjoyed traveling with her husband, and together they visited most of the 50 states, explored many National Parks, and traveled to Europe on three occasions; her favorite being a trip to Ireland where she met her Irish relatives and reconnected with her nephew. She was an avid fan of Uconn athletics, holding season tickets to the women's basketball team and the football team. Patricia was a sweet and compassionate soul who took joy in helping people, hosting celebrations for friends and family and volunteering wherever needed. Her welcoming nature often turned friends into family as Joanne became another sister and Jeannette and Jim became an adopted daughter and son. Most of all, she was a devoted and proud wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with family.

Patricia is survived by her two beloved daughters, Donna Donovan and her husband Arthur of Manchester, and Karen Roberge of Norwalk; two adored grandsons, Michael J. Donovan and his wife Jessica of Groton, and Matthew R. Donovan and his partner, Anna Brown, of Broomfield, CO; her sister, Catherine A. Cosgrove of Newington; and a nephew, Thomas J. Cosgrove and his wife Domini, and their children, Daina and Andrew, all of England. She was predeceased by her stepmother, Blanche (Denigris) Cosgrove, her sister and brotherin-law, Carmela (Cosgrove) and Leonard Dannahey, and her brother, Thomas J. Cosgrove Jr.

Funeral service will be Saturday, March 25, 2023 with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at Our Lady of Peace Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 370 May Road, East Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Saturday morning. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the D'esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 4–6 pm.
