Eleanor (Darling) Katz, affectiona­tely known as “Bubbie,” passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at the age of 88. Ellie was born the eighth child out of ten on September 24, 1935; daughter of the late Anna (Miller) & Samuel Darling. She was born and raised in Hartford and was a graduate of Weaver High School, Class of 1952. Ellie raised her family in Bloomfield and retired to Coconut Creek, FL. Her passion was her family, her friends, crafts, and playing Mahjong and Rummy Cube. Ellie was an active member in the Sisterhood at Beth Hillel synagogue until her retirement in 1991.

Ellie leaves behind her daughter, Audrey Mancini and her husband Joe of East Granby; a son, Steven Katz of Florida; a granddaugh­ter who she adored, Deb Angelis and her husband Dave of Granby; her two great-granddaugh­ters, Tia and Jenna Angelis of Granby; her sisters, Jean Selinger and Delores Stein; and many nieces and nephews. Ellie is predecease­d by four brothers Harry, Muzzy, Sonny, and Robert; three sisters, Ida Cutler, Lillian Dubinski, and Deanna Goldstein; as well as her significan­t other, Ed Israel.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 15, 1 p.m., at Hartford Mutual Memorial Park, 80 Wolcott Rd., East Granby. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to by visiting, www.stjude.org/donate or to a charity of the donor's choice.
