These 3 adventures will take your breath away

- By Lynn O’rourke Hayes Familytravel.com

Expand your family’s horizons with otherworldly adventures. Here are three to consider.

Sphere, Las Vegas: Opened last year, the instantly iconic landmark, standing at more than 360 feet tall, is the world’s largest spherical structure. The architectural wonder, with a programmable LED exterior, is powered by tech that enables audiences to share experiences at a neverbefore-seen scale.

Aura the Spokesbot, a humanoid robot, will welcome you as your visit gets underway. Aura can answer questions about the groundbreaking engineering and custom technology that helped erect the venue.

The venue hosts “Postcard From Earth,” from director Darren Aronofsky. It’s a portrait of our planet, offering a reimagined sci-fi experience.

U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Huntsville,

Alabama: Visit this technology center to experience the Discovery Shuttle simulator, where you can feel three times the force of gravity in the G-force Accelerator. You can also peruse one of the largest collections of rockets and space memorabilia on display in the world.

For those who want to train like an astronaut, Space Camp is a good fit. The program has been inspiring future explorers for more than 32 years. The camps offer space, aviation and robotics instruction for kids between ages 9 to 18 and adults of all ages.

Arizona’s dark skies:

Expect stellar stargazing as well as the chance to tour Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, the first city to be designated a Dark Sky City by the International Dark-sky Association. See the telescope in which Pluto was discovered in the 1930s and peer through the century-old Clark Telescope. Drive south to Tucson, the astronomy capital of the world. Stay at the Westin La Paloma,

where families can learn about the celestial world in the Santa Catalina Mountains’ foothills. A “cosmic concierge” may be onsite to provide teaching moments.
