Marinelli, Ines
Ines Helena Marinelli, 99, of Newington passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2024. She was born on May 11, 1924, in East Berlin, Connecticut, to the late Louis and Adele (Archelaschi) Carsanico. She was the beloved wife of the late Christy Marinelli. Ines graduated from Berlin High School and was Class Valedictorian in 1942.
Ines leaves behind her beloved sons Chris and wife Christine Marinelli of Killingworth and Richard and wife Valerie Marinelli of Lakewood Ranch, FL. She leaves her cherished grandchildren, Gregory and wife Lydia Marinelli of Avon and Ryan and wife Eden Marinelli of Sharon, MA. She also leaves other dear nieces, nephews and cousins, including Gail Scalise of Wethersfield, CT. and loving relatives in Morbegno, Italy.
Along with her parents she is predeceased by her husband Christy Marinelli, her sister Irma Scalise, and her nephews Anthony Scalise and Richard Scalise.
Ines and Chris were married in June 1945 and settled in New Britain. In 1966, they moved to Newington establishing new roots in the community and making many wonderful friends. They celebrated their milestone 50th wedding anniversary in June 1995.
Ines loved spending hours upon hours in her kitchen cooking and baking. She could make everything—hearty Italian meals, pizza, chocolate eclairs, cakes, pies, and cookies. She simply loved sharing her culinary delights with family and friends for any occasion. She cherished the time with her grandchildren, running errands with friends, and going to breakfast with the neighborhood ladies and her late nephew Anthony. Ines was also a devoted parishioner at Holy Spirit Church in Newington. Ines had several wonderful caregivers, but none more devoted and compassionate than Margaret, who, along with Hospice, helped Ines pass in comfort and peace. The Marinelli family thanks the staff and residents at Middlewoods of Newington, who welcomed Ines as part of their family for nearly two years.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Avenue. The funeral service will begin Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at Newington Memorial directly following will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 183 Church St. Ines will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Saint Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St., New Britain.
