IACOBUCCI, Elisa

-

Elisa (Dinino) Iacobucci, 87, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of the late Gianpietro “John” Iacobucci, Sr. passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Elisa's story began on March 13, 1937 in Pratola Peligna province of L'aquila, a beautiful mountain village in Abruzzo, Italy. She was one of six children (three boys and three girls) of the late Donato Dinino and Lucia (Lucente) Dinino.

Elisa was born and raised during wartime Italy. She and her family were of little means but were a happy family. In 1959 Elisa met, fell in love and married her husband Gianpietro Iacobucci who had returned from America visiting family and friends. After he met Elisa, he was mesmerized by her beauty and character asking to court her and soon they fell in love. Trusting their love, she happily followed her newlywed husband to America where they started their life together, settling first in West Hartford where they started their family welcoming first their son Luigi, then John and completed their family with the birth of their daughter Adrianna. The early years of living in America brought challenges, the language barrier being the greatest. Both being courageous and strong, they quickly learned the language and they made it a priority to understand and be able to communicate their newfound language. Once fluent, Elisa set her new goals such as obtaining her citizenship and drivers license with the support of her beloved husband.

Ultimately, the family moved and settled in Wethersfield. Elisa and John early in their marriage realized the importance of a mother's presence in the household therefore John devoted his life to working hard eventually establishing and co-founding Connecticut Mason Contractors, Inc. and Marconi Enterprises as well as various other businesses. He happily took on these responsibilities in order to provide for his family. His hard work ethic allowed Elisa the opportunity to take on the hardest job, devoting her life to the love and nurturing of her children and their home. This was a decision they happily made knowing how important being a stay at home Mom was for their family.

After she and John made a life for themselves, all they wanted to do was shower their family and friends with good things, things they never grew up with. Her family was everything to her, she showered us with love and affection like no other mother could. Growing up she loved to prepare delicious home cooked meals and pastries on a daily basis. Her cooking began in the wee hours of the morning when she prepared her homemade bread, pasta and sauce. Elisa took great pride in preparing her culinary specialties for family and friends to enjoy. There was always a place at her table for anyone that walked in.

She also spent many hours tending to her garden. Each summer it was filled with delicious vegetables and fruits. In addition, Elisa prided herself on keeping a meticulously neat home.

Elisa was a devoted daughter, and respectful of extended family members, she always made sure to keep strong family bond by returning to Italy with her family every two years. She also made sure her children knew their Italian heritage and they all knew how to speak the Italian language. They made wonderful family memories in Italy and her children will never forget their great relationship with their Nonni's and e Zii. What completed Elisa's life was the arrival of her grandchildren, they were all the apples of her eyes and each one brought her great joy. She devoted her life to make sure they were taken care of and true to her nature, Nonna loved to cook for them.

She was a poised and dignified woman with a gentle soul. She rarely thought of herself, she always made sure that everyone felt loved and cherished.

In addition to being a longtime faithful communicant of the Church of the Incarnation, Elisa was very devoted to the patron saint of her hometown, La Madonna Della Libera. She will be missed by her children Lou J. Iacobucci of Rocky Hill, John Pietro Iacobucci, Jr. and wife, Lisa of Berlin, and Adriana Pagliuca and husband, Vincenzo of Berlin; grandchildren, Krista Jane Iacobucci, John Edward Iacobucci, (and their mother Mary Iacobucci), John Pietro Iacobucci, III, Vincenzo “VJ”, “Vinnie” Pagliuca, Elisia Faith Pagliuca (named after her Nonna) and her youngest grandchild, Gabriel Alexander Pagliuca. Elisa is also survived by her sister Silvia Vitale of PA., along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her husband and parents, Elisa was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Iacobucci; and her granddaughter, Cassandra Elisa Pagliuca.

Elisa's family would like thank the staff of the Atrium in Rocky Hill Assisted Living Facility. A special thank you to Tracy Keaton, her personal caregiver, for her exceptional kindness and caring of Elisa, it is forever appreciated by our family.

Elisa's dedication to her family was returned to her by the love, strength and unselfish assistance her family provided for her at her time of need, especially her daughter Adriana and her husband Vincenzo.
