Arthur, Kathleen M.

Kathleen Mary Arthur, age 86, of Chester and formerly of Essex passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She was the beloved wife of the late Edwin P. Arthur who predeceased her on June 26, 2011. Kathy was born on July 18, 1937 in Harkstead, Suffolk, England the daughter of Victor and Elsie (Smith) Hill. She received her secondary education at the Ipswich High School for Girls in England and received her Associates Degree in Science at Middlesex Community College in Middletown in 1991. Kathy also completed a four year Ministry Education Program receiving a certificate of completion from the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut in June of 2010 with classes taught briefly at Saint John Episcopal Church in Essex. She worked as a production Control Manager for the former Pratt- Read & Company in Ivoryton. Kathy had also worked early in her career with radio news broadcasters in New York at CBS News including American Broadcast Journalist Edward Roscoe Murrow. She was a member of Saint John Episcopal Church in Essex, loved the opera, travelling throughout the country with friends and had a great love of art, especially collage and painting. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Elsie Lovell. She is survived by her beloved niece, Clare Louise Lovell of Norwich, England. Her funeral service will be held at Saint John Episcopal Church, corner of Main and Cross Streets in Essex on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 11:00AM.
