Elizabeth (Dettenborn) Dionne, 86, devoted wife of 32 years to her beloved husband Donald Dionne, passed away at home on March 23, 2024.

She was the daughter of the late, Emil and Marion (Torpey) Dettenborn. She is also predecease­d by two sisters Marion Dettenborn and Barbara Cicero, and her grandson Aaron Mason.

Born January 12, 1938, Elizabeth is known to all who loved her as Betty or as we often fondly called her “Betty-boop”. She was a loving and caring mother to her children and stepchildr­en, James Bailey and wife Sheila of Stafford Springs, CT; Michelle Peck and husband Randall of Manchester, CT; Sharyl Mason and husband Dennis of New London Township, PA; Jeffery Bailey and wife Becky of San Clemente, CA; Stephen Bailey and wife Jane of Palmdale, CA; Kyle Lopes of Florida; Jeffery Dionne of Suffield, CT; and Matthew Dionne of Wethersfie­ld, CT.

She also leaves behind her many grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren whom she loved very much: Grandchild­ren - Sandy, Sharon, Eric, Jamie, Megan, Brandon, Jessica, Kathryn, Christophe­r, Christian, Jake, Brooklyn, Isabelle, Nadia, Bianca; Great-grandchild­ren Sierra, Sasha, J, Adeline, Miles, Paxton, Luna, Ambelina, Flynn, and Bastian.

She also leaves behind to mourn her loss her siblings, Emileen King and husband Eddie, Judith Milanese and husband Terrance, William Dettenborn and wife Maureen, and Annie Kowalyshyn and husband Jim, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth’s first job was at Travelers Insurance in Hartford, CT. She later went on to open a successful dry-cleaning business, “One Hour Martinizin­g” in Wethersfie­ld, CT. Some years later she became a long serving manager for Sunshine Laundry, formally located on Maple Ave in Hartford, CT. She enjoyed the country, she loved gardening and had many different kinds of flowers. She also enjoyed playing with her grandchild­ren, traveling, animals (especially her cats), and of course watching her “girls” – the Uconn Women’s Basketball Team.

A special thanks to her neighbors Milton and Tia Pontes and their beautiful family, whom she loved and fondly called them her other children.

The funeral service will be held Friday, April 5, 2024, 10am, at St. Joseph’s Church - 99 Jackson Street, Willimanti­c, CT.
