Grace Scott Rowland

LEXINGTON - Heaven gained another angel on November 1st, 2023. Grace Scott Rowland died peacefully in her sleep at her daughter, Becky Erwin’s home in Lexington, KY at the age of 83 after a valiant fight with Alzheimers. She touched everyone she knew with her kindness and never met a stranger.

Grace came to Sarasota, Florida as a young girl, where her parents opened Key Pharmacy on St Armand’s circle. She attended Florida State University, where she met and married her husband Fred, who joined the Air Force and they proceeded to move all over the United States and Europe.

During their five overseas assignments, Grace developed a lifetime love of travel. She made friends wherever she went and there were very few places she didn’t explore. She taught herself to speak, or fake, the language in any country she was visiting. She loved staying in hostels or in the homes of locals to have the ‘true flavor’ of the country.

After returning to the States, she began a career in travel, and ended up as President of AAA World Travel before returning to Sarasota, FL in 1986. Back to her roots, she began an amazing career in Real Estate while also launching Singles on the Go, a travel club that is still very active today.

Grace valued her family and friends above all else. She is survived by her three children; Scott, Wendy and Becky, nine Grandchildren; Kevin, Matthew, Kelsey, Meghan, JP, Brenna, Emily, Carter and Brady, and 4 Great-Grandchildren.

Grace’s family will host a Celebration of Life for her in Sarasota on December 17th from 2-4 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Banquet Hall located at 4880 Fruitville Road in Sarasota, Florida.

Her family would be honored if you could come share a special memory or time you spent together. In lieu of flowers, please take time to make memories with your families in her honor!
