Suzanne Marie Hough

SARASOTA - In His infinite wisdom, the Lord suddenly called Suzanne Marie Hough to Himself in heaven on Sunday, January 8th, 2024. Suzanne, also known as Sue, Susy, or Miss Hough to so many was born on February 2, 1962 to Howard and Lois Hough in Rapid City, South Dakota. She was baptized as a child of God and confirmed in her faith at St. Paul's Lutheran of Rapid City.

Susy attended Mobridge Lutheran High School and Luther Prep, Prairie Du Chien Wisconsin. She graduated from Martin Luther College, New Ulm MN. in December of 1985.

Susy received her first call to teach grades 3-4 at St. John's in Two Rivers, WI. in 1986. In 1998 she began teaching Kindergart­en and 1st grade at Peace Lutheran School in Bradenton, FL. She too the call to teach grades 3 and 4 at Ascension Lutheran School in Sarasota, FL. in 2016. She was serving there at the time of her death.

Susy loved teaching the children. She enjoyed sharing the love of God with them on a daily basis. It was her goal to have her students like school and feel safe and loved. She lived her faith in their presence. She was loved by her students. Susy also served as organist and did many other things at the congregati­ons she served. She was a blessing at all 3 of her congregati­ons.

Susy loved to travel. She made it to 49 states, Mexico, and Europe. Her only missing state was Oklahoma. She now got her “Oklahoma” in heaven. She traveled with family and friends and enjoyed seeing big sites and silly things alike. Susy loved to play games. You could find her with trivia team on Monday nights. She loved to play mahjongg with the ladies. She also loved all kinds of cad and board games. She enjoyed word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles and watching TV and reading.

Susy's faith in her Lord never waivered. She was sure of her citizenshi­p in heaven and looked forward to being with her Savior and all other believers. She truly believed that God was in complete control of her life. Susy is survived by her sister Terry and brother Zane (Teri), her nieces and nephews, great nieces and many friends. She if preceded in death by her parents Howard and Lois, her brother Alan.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 at 11:00 am at Ascension Lutheran Church.

Susy's favorite passage and what she lived by Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God.
