MEET THE HERALD-TRIBUNE 2024 ALL-AREA BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM

At the end of each season, The Herald-Tribune selects All-Area teams honoring the best athletes for every sport. Coaches from Sarasota and Manatee county schools are sent nomination forms and are asked to nominate and rate their athletes as well as those from other teams. That data combined with The Herald-Tribune's research led to the selection of the All-Area teams.

FIRST TEAM Jaden Baker

School: Bradenton Christian

Year: Senior

Highlights: The guard averaged 20 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals per game. Baker was named the Florida Athletic Coaches Association District 16 Class 3A Player of the Year and an All-Star selection.

Michael Drayton

School: Sarasota

Year: Senior

Highlights: Guard averaged 12.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2 steals per game. Drayton was named the FACA Class 7A Player of the Year.

Jovan Palavra

School: Booker

Year: Senior

Highlights: Guard averaged 16.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.2 steals and 1 block per game. Shot 47% from the field, 38% from beyond the arc and 71% from the free-throw line. Palavra was named the District 16 Class 4A Player of the Year and an All-Star selection.

Angelo Blas

School: Imagine School at North Port

Year: Senior

Highlights: Guard averaged 17.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2.5 steals per game while hitting on 48 percent of his field goal attempts and 70 percent of his free throws.

Connor Heald

School: Cardinal Mooney Catholic

Year: Senior

Highlights: Guard averaged 19 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2 assists per game. Averaged 23.2 points against 11 opponents from the Sarasota/Manatee area.

Evan Roberts

School: Palmetto Year: Sophomore

Highlights: Guard averaged 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Roberts was named the District 16 Class 6A Player of the Year.

Oliver Boyle

School: Sarasota

Year: Junior Highlights: Guard averaged 9.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, shot 41% from the field and 92% from the free-throw line.

Dylan Higgins

School: Parrish Community

Year: Senior

Highlights: Guard averaged 17.2 points, 1.6 steals, 1.1 assists while shooting 44% from the field, 36% from beyond the arc and 72% at the freethrow line.

Marcus Schade

School: Braden River Year: Senior

Highlights: Guard averaged 22 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Schade was named the District 16 All-Star selection.

Jeremiah Dawson

School: Riverview Year: Senior

Highlights: Forward averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds per game.

Elijah Lubsey

School: North Port Year: Senior

Highlights: Forward averaged 21.4 points, 11.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Had four games with 30 or more points and 20 doubledoubles. Named the FACA District 16 Most Valuable Player.

William Strawbridge

School: Bayshore Year: Junior

Highlights: Small forward averaged 17.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.6 steals while shooting 54% from the field, 37% from beyond the arc and 70% from the free-throw line.
