How Often?

More is not better. Ask your vet about the ideal frequency of cleanings for your particular gelding or stallion. Some horses can happily go years between sheath cleanings; others are more comfortable with a cleaning once a year or so. A foul smell or an itchy butt can indicate a smegma buildup or a bean (though scratching/rubbing can have many causes— use your good judgment or ask your vet).
