When the Behavior Persists

If your mare exhibits extreme stallion-like behavior year-round, it may be due to a granulosa cell tumor on one of her ovaries. Such tumors are benign but release the hormone testosterone, causing the behavior. Surgical removal of the affected ovary provides a cure.
