Prairie View captures 7th straight win

PRAIRIE VIEW — Johnta Hebert ran for 212 yards and three touchdowns, Trey Green threw for a score and ran for another, and Prairie View A&M won its seventh straight game, 56-14 over Jackson State on Saturday.

The Panthers (8-2, 8-1) could receive an at-large playoff bid after Grambling State clinched the Southweste­rn Athletic Conference playoff berth last week.

The Panthers outgained the Tigers 519-223 and cinched their first winning season since 2010.

Jarin Morikawa was 18of-48 for 151 yards for the Tigers (3-7, 3-5).

SMU 49, TULANE 21

Xavier Jones ran for 117 yards and three touchdowns, Matt Davis added 156 yards rushing and a score, and SMU (2-9, 1-6 AAC) beat Tulane (3-8, 1-6) in Dallas.

INCARNATE WORD 30 HOUSTON BAPTIST 3

Trent Brittain ran for two scores and threw for another to lead Incarnate Word over Houston Baptist at Husky Stadium.

The victory gave Incarnate Word (6-5, 5-4 Southland Conference) its second winning season and first winning conference season.

Incarnate Word finished with 256 total yards while limiting HBU (2-9, 0-8) to 154 yards.

HBU’s Max Staver was held to 27 yards passing, going just 5-of-19. Larry Day and B.J. Kelly had 59 yards apiece rushing.

MCNEESE ST. 20, LAMAR 14

In Beaumont, Derrick Milton, Ryan Ross and Daniel Sams each rushed for over 100 yards as McNeese State (10-0, 9-0 Southland Conference) held on to beat Lamar.

Kade Harrington, who had 2,022 rushing yards this season prior to this game, was held to just 70 yards for the Cardinals (5-6, 4-5).

SAM HOUSTON ST. 42 CENTRAL ARKANSAS 14

Cory Avery produced his fourth consecutiv­e 100-yard rushing game and Jared Johnson passed for 279 yards to lead Sam Houston (8-3, 7-2 Southland) to a win at Central Arkansas (7-4, 7-2) in the final regular-season game for both squads.

NORTHWESTE­RN ST. 33 STEPHEN F. AUSTIN 17

Stephen Rivers threw for 302 yards on 20-of-30 passing and Northweste­rn State (4-7, 4-5) had a strong second half to beat visiting Stephen F. Austin in Southland Conference play.

Zach Conque threw for 168 yards and one touchdown for Stephen F. Austin (4-7, 4-5).

NORTHERN COLORADO 40 ABILENE CHRISTIAN 36

Jacob Knipp threw for 293 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for another score as Northern Colorado (6-5) beat Abilene Christian

(3-8) in Greeley, Colo.

LOUISIANA TECH 17 UTEP 17

Carlos Henderson caught a 54-yard, goahead touchdown pass from Jeff Driskel early in the third quarter as Louisiana Tech won at UTEP.

Driskel was 13-of-22 passing for 188 yards and two touchdowns for Louisiana Tech (8-3, 6-1 Conference USA).

Ryan Metz threw for 121 yards for UTEP (4-7, 2-5).

MIDDLE TENNESSEE 41 NORTH TEXAS 7

In Murfreesbo­ro, Tenn., Brent Stockstill passed for 322 yards and three touchdowns as Middle Tennessee (6-5, 4-2 Conference USA) beat North Texas (1-10, 1-6).
