Walter Hugh Zinnecker went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 19, 2015. He was born on October 3, 1928 in Houston, Texas . His parents were Eugene Bedford and Lelia Nation Zinnecker who were teachers in Houston Independen­t School District. Hugh graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1945 and graduated from the University of Houston in 1951. He continued his father’s business, Red Head Boat Co. until 1965 when he opened Holiday Mfg. Co., where he designed and built marine products. Hugh and his father were founding members of the Houston Boating Trades Associatio­n of Metropolit­an Houston where Hugh twice served as its president. Hugh met Lois Philpot in Galena Park, Texas in 1947 and they married at First Baptist Church on June 9, 1948. They were blessed with five children and many friends at Park Place Baptist Church, Houston Boating Trades Associatio­n and the Etudier Literary Club. They moved to Friendswoo­d, Texas in 1984 and became active in First Baptist Church Friendswoo­d, and they enjoyed their years of retirement meeting many new friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Seth Tippit. Surviving family members are his wife, Lois and children Beth Murphy (Jim), Dawn South (Bill), Lelia Winkelman (Rick), Walter Hugh Zinnecker Jr., and Lois Ann Cotter (Timothy) and eleven grandchild­ren: Cari Beth Washburn, Angela and Michael Murphy, Ian Looper, Jillian Tippit, Aaron, Evan and Joseph Zinnecker, Laura Ann Martinez, Sarah and Rebekah Cotter, twelve great grandchild­ren and a number of nieces and nephews. A celebratio­n of his life will be held on Nov. 23, 2015 at SouthPark Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas at 1PM with visitation Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015 from 4PM-6PM also at SouthPark. Donations may be made in his memory to First Baptist Church in Friendswoo­d, Texas or a charity of your choice.
