Bet Jennings, a Realtor with Greenwood King Properties, took her first real estate class in 1983, and she was hooked. She has been involved with many different aspects of real estate since. One thing she believes and understands is that real estate is about people.
“I often have the honor of working with generations of the same family, which includes young adults seeking their first home, parents upsizing or downsizing and grandparents, who usually have different needs and wants. I sincerely enjoy working with different generations and meeting their goals,” Jennings said.
When Jennings works with a family buying or selling a property, a very personal relationship grows and becomes a bond.
“I have made many long-term friendships, which are important to me. Any time someone makes a move, it can be an adjust- ment. I want it to be enjoyable, a good experience for my clients,” Jennings said.
Jennings, a native Houstonian, is a top producer at Greenwood King, based in the Memorial area. She specializes in Memorial, the Villages, and Galveston Island’s West End. Yet, she goes where her clients want to go.
“Helping my clients find a second home in Galveston was a natural transition. Many of my clients know I work in this area due to my passion for the coastal life. I specialize in the Pirates communities there — Laffite’s Cove, where I have a home, Pirates Beach, Pirates Beach West and Pirates Cove. I am deeply invested in the Galveston community. I also serve on the Laffite’s Cove Property Owners Association,” Jennings said.
After Ike when the island was devastated by the salt surge she was asked to use her horticultural background to manage the re-landscaping of Laffite’s Cove — from the ground up, because the salt surge had killed all the vegetation and previous plantings.
“I spent three months planning the landscape in the common areas. It has a great tropical feel now, and I serve as their landscape director. Landscaping plays an important part on home prices,” Jennings said.
Jennings career com- bines her passions — people, landscape and homes — to which she attributes her success.
She is known for going the extra mile for her clients.
For example, when she lists a home she prepares the home inside and out, including the landscaping, so it is show-ready. She also educates her clients so they are familiar with the process.
“I really care about my clients, and that is why I put in the hours and do all that I do, because for me, again, real estate is about people, about my clients,” Jennings said.
