DR. ROBERT N. WEINBERGER

-

1950-2016

He was known to his friends as “Bob,” to his family as “Bobby,” to his patients as “Dr. Bob,” and to his office staff as “Weinberger.” Dr. Robert N. Weinberger, formerly of Scranton, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, June 7, 2016, in Houston, Texas, with his family by his side.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Harold “Heshy” and Rosalyn Gildar Weinberger, Dr. Weinberger practiced as a clinical psychologist for over 40 years in the Greater Houston Area. He completed his residency at the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston and received his doctorate from Oklahoma State University in 1977. His devotion and passion to help others led him to establish his own practice, The Weinberger Clinic, PLLC, in 2015. He also cemented his presence as an amazing public speaker and touched audiences far beyond the scope of Houston. He truly knew how to engage people, capture their undivided attention, and make them laugh.

Throughout his career, Dr. Weinberger was a prevalent member of his community. His care was compassionate yet

straightforward and always included elements of his unique sense of humor. Over the years, Dr. Weinberger developed a

particular interest in treating children, adolescents, and young adults. He carried a reputation among these patients as the “66-year-old teenager.” In his work with this community, he touched the lives of many parents, grandparents, clergy members, counselors, and school administrators.

Dr. Weinberger had a love of travel and exploration. He founded HIS Tours, LLC, a program that offered opportunities for students to study abroad and religious congregations to travel to the Holy Land of Israel.

Personally, Dr. Weinberger was as passionate about his family as he was his work. Popping in unexpectedly to visit family members and attend functions was not uncommon. He also made it a priority to travel to pay respects to his parents and other family members who had passed away. He was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, a caring sibling, a compassionate father and father-in-law, an attentive uncle, an interested godfather, and most recently, a proud grandfather. He is survived by Lennie, his loving wife of 40 years; his three beloved children and daughter-in-law—son, Evan and wife, Diane; daughters, Lee and Kate; and, his grandson, and newest joy in his life, Samuel. Also surviving are his brothers, Atty. Jerry Weinberger, Steven

Weinberger, Dr. Richard Weinberger; and his sister Nancy Ben-Dov; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be held to honor and remember Dr. Weinberger on Monday, July 11, 2016, at 7:00 pm at Congregation Beth Yeshurun in Houston, TX. Dr. Weinberger was a dedicated supporter of many Jewish organizations. Donations in his name can be made to The Shul of Bellaire, The Bellaire Jewish Center, Congregation Beth Yeshurun, or United Orthodox Synagogue.
