Trump takes center stage

-

Let’s do this

Regarding “Trump says America in crisis — and he’ll fix it ‘fast’” (Chron.com, Friday), I think it (the speech) was honest, sincere and he laid out what a world with Hillary Clinton would look like and a world with him and the much-needed change he brings.

You see his passion and love of family and country is strong. He showed his strength and ability to run our country and do it well.

I just hope he reaches beyond the people at the convention and that people see through Hillary.

Refreshing

Ted Cruz remains iconic in politics and my contrarian hero. His explanation of his actions regarding the signed pledge and Trump’s word were classic values of our Founding Fathers.

It is so refreshing to see that someone out there in the political arena understands that despite political implications, believing in the concept of right and wrong does matter.

I am going to vote for Trump because he has a track record of achieving what he says he is going to do.

Stoking fear

His speech was leaked before he gave it. I was reading along. It was about as maniacal as I expected it to be.

Pandering to crazies and appealing to fear. That was about it. The saying goes, people will oftentimes forget what you tell them, but they will always remember how you make them feel. If Trump can scare enough people by lying enough, that’ll be his way to the White House. Clayton Elkins, posted via Facebook

Sounds familiar

People are supporting him because they are tired of the same old politicians, but in reality he only appears to offer change just like Obama did at one time.

Cruz snub

Regarding “‘I will fight for you” and “Cruz under fire” (Page A1, Friday), many angry Republicans question Ted Cruz’s loyalty after he refused to give Donald Trump an explicit endorsement in his convention speech. Trump’s eldest son, Eric, called Cruz’s snub “classless.”

I must admit that until now, I never conceived that the adjective “class- less” could be used in an article and not refer to Donald Trump or his Democrat opponent Hillary Clinton. I still can’t.

I feel for Ted Cruz. There are some bridges you just don’t cross.

The pledge?

If Ted Cruz felt that bad toward Donald Trump, why did he show up at the Republican convention? If he told the chairman of the Republican Party that he would support Trump and then at the last minute didn’t, then Cruz lied and double-crossed all Republicans!

Had he declined the speaking engagement, he would have been respected more by his peers. But now he has shot himself in the foot and may never recover politically.
