Rangers claim Duffy off waivers

The Astros lost infielder Matt Duffy off waivers to intrastate rival Texas on Saturday.

Duffy will join the Rangers’ Class AAA affiliate in Round Rock. The Astros designated him for assignment July 16 when they signed Cuban infielder Yulieski Gurriel.

Duffy, 27, made the Astros’ opening-day roster but was optioned to Class AAA Fresno on April 12 when Evan Gattis returned from the disabled list.
